Founder's Statement

Hello. My name is Jeff. I am a software architect and the founder of Lawful Good. I am passionate about designing products for real people that are a joy to use. Software should make your life more simple, not more complicated.

In early 2025 I saw that independent attorneys were underserved by current software tools, and the current generation of AI models were ideally suited for the needs of the legal industry. I built and tested a prototype with a select group of independent attorneys. The feedback was resoundingly positive, so I kept building, guided by the needs of this group.

During this time I also came to understand why most of the attorneys I was working with had made the choice to go solo. There was a common theme - a desire for greater autonomy, to be free of the office politics of Big Law, and to be able to set their own schedule. In a word, freedom. But, this choice of course comes with a cost. The independent attorney has to shoulder an enormous amount of work that might normally have been handed off to a junior associate or paralegal in a larger firm. This is where AI can really shine, and support the individual who is currently doing everything themselves.

Lawful Good was founded to address the needs of the independent attorney, and to help further their pursuit of professional freedom.
